Summer Internship for Landscape Architecture Student /

We are currently offering an internship in Landscape Architecture. Internships are offered for a limited term and have potential to lead to permanent employment. CALYX Design Group offers a stipend as well as a studio environment that provides opportunities for professional growth and participation in exceptional projects.
Skills Required:
· Computer skills (Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite)
· An attention to detail, critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities
· Strong interest in and familiarity with horticulture
· Be able to effectively manage his/her own time
· Willingness to learn and participate in a diverse range of support tasks
Internship Duties:
· Assisting with site analysis and creation of base drawings
· Assist with redlines & basic drafting and some work with SketchUp
· Assistance with creation of marketing and proposal information
· Photography of Project Sites
· Attend field meetings and review construction progress
Interested candidates should be college students, currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s or Master’s degree Landscape Architecture program. Internship Period: May-August, 2017
Candidates must be available for a Skype or in-person interview (preferred), and be prepared to work regular business hours in our office.

Little Mekong Plaza Construction Starts /
Calyx Design Group in conjunction with Hmong American Partnership and the Saint Paul Riverfront Corporation & City of Saint Paul, have embarked on the start of the construction of an urban plaza and night market space near Western and University Avenue. Staffing News: Mark Flicker joins Calyx Design Group /
On March 2, Mark Flicker joined the staff at Calyx Design Group as a project manager. Mark is a graduate of North Dakota State University and holds a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture and a Masters of Natural Resource Management. In addition to his technical background, Mark will also be actively working with clients to manage the in-studio design process and working in the field managing construction administration.
LASN Magazine Hardscapes Feature - Dakota County Western Service Center Plaza /
In the February, 2016 issues of Landscape Architect and Specifier News, Calyx Design Group was published in the Hardscapes Feature for our collaboration with Dakota County and Wold Architects and Engineers on the Western Service Center Plaza project in Apple Valley, MN. This project featured a number of interesting elements which make it a unique plaza space, including the extensive use of Uponor in-slab heating and Cemstone concrete color throughout the plaza.

Job Opening - Entry Level Position Open through 1/6/16 /
Calyx Design Group has an opening for an entry level position in our small (but growing) St. Paul office. 0-2 yrs. experience with a degree from an accredited landscape architecture program is required. Candidates must be highly motivated, self-starters and eager to work in a studio environment. Work will range from schematic design and planning to construction document preparation and field observation. Additionally, field work performing site analysis and tree inventory will be part of this role. Our studio is a mentoring space, where you will be encouraged to learn and grow in the profession.
The ideal candidate will have a balanced background in the landscape industry, understanding plant materials, soil sciences, and standard horticultural practices. Additionally, candidates should have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Minnesota State Mankato: New Student Dining Hall /
Calyx Design Group helped design the site for a new 60,000SF dining hall on the north end of campus at Minnesota State University in Mankato. Working in close collaboration with campus staff, architecture team, and the civil engineer, the new site for the dining hall will include native plantings, natural stone walls, and high-efficiency irrigation.

Amazon Fulfillment Center - Shakopee, MN /
Amazon is in the process of building a new 820,000SF fulfillment facility in Shakopee, MN that will provide the Twin Cities with same-day delivery and generate over 1,000 new jobs.
The on-line retail giant is set to be on-line by Spring 2015 on an 80-acre parcel off Highway 101. Ryan Companies is the General Contractor.
